MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Four Vermont nonprofit groups have been awarded $45,000 to support school recycling and composting programs across the state.
The grants from the Agency of Natural Resources are to help implement Vermont's Universal Recycling Law, which requires phased-in recycling and composting statewide over the next 5 years.
The money will be used in the Rutland and Colchester regions, Bennington, Brattleboro and the Northeast Kingdom.
Each grant requires the organization that receives it to develop and launch school-wide recycling and composting programs in at least four schools.
