Water rescue in Alburgh

Posted: Updated:

There was a water rescue in Alburgh Tuesday afternoon.

The town's fire chief says three people were tossed overboard into Lake Champlain when their catamaran blew over in the wind.

Two of the individuals were picked up after a few minutes by a passing boater.

The third was rescued with the help of Alburgh Fire Department's boat.

"Watch the windy days, especially on a catamaran, because those waves are pretty rough out there, even with our own big boat," said Capt. Scott Mashtare of the Alburgh Fire Department.

The three individuals were all wearing life jackets and were not injured.

The fire chief says this was the fourth water rescue for the department so far this season.
