NY state approves resort project in Tupper Lake

ALBANY, N.Y. -

After a decade of waiting, New York State has given approval to build a resort in Tupper Lake.

The New York State Appellate Court ruled in favor of the resort in a 5-0 vote. The environmental group, Protect the Adirondacks, filed a lawsuit against investors buying the land in Tupper Lake to build a resort.

But after years of court proceedings, the state is siding with the Adirondack Park Agency to sell the land for the resort project.

Assemblywoman Janet Duprey, a longtime supporter of the resort, says the project will be moving forward.

"We're talking about up to 500 jobs over a few phases, talking about high-end vacation homes and these are people who I truly believe will invest in the community," said Duprey, R-Peru.

Duprey says the public should expect to see construction to begin quickly now that the lawsuit is settled.
