ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. -
Mother nature couldn't stop the region's best young golfers from taking to the links at Lang Farm in Essex today for the annual Drive, Chip & Putt competition.
Off of last year's local success, a huge number of participants hit the tee boxes and putting greens for the second annual qualifier. The event is open to all boys and girls, ages 7-to-15, with winners from each of the four age brackets moving on to the sub-regional next month in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Among those returning for a second go at it, North Fayston's Jon Honeywell. Not only did the young star advance to the regional but he also made it all the way to Augusta National for the finals, where he finished third overall. It is every kid's dream to play on the course where the Master's is held but even the chance to compete on this stage is a whole lot of fun.
