$9 million bridge project underway in Lebanon, NH

LEBANON, N.H. -

A $9 million bridge project is underway in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

The bridge, at the intersection of Routes 4 and 4A, has been red listed by the state due to its age and deterioration. The reconstruction started Monday. Crews cleared trees along Route 4 in preparation for work on the span crossing the Mascoma River. The nearby New Hampshire Rail Trail will stay open during most of the construction. Drivers can continue using the existing bridge while the new one is built.

"There will probably be intermittent delays during construction but for the most part, traffic is expected to flow fairly smoothly," said Michael Lavalla, Lebanon Public Works director.

The project will include a new sewer line that connects Enfield and Lebanon. The project is expected to take about a year.
