Man wanted in Vermont Gas protest turns himself in

A man wanted in connection with a protest at Vermont Gas headquarters has turned himself in to police.

During a demonstration at the South Burlington company in May, police say a Vermont Gas employee suffered minor injuries when she was pushed a struck with a large chain that was used to lock one of the protesters to the front door.

The protest group Rising Tide Vermont denied anyone was hurt and refused to identify the man wanted by police.

Now, on advice from his lawyer, Willy Levitt, 37, of Hardwick, turned himself in. He was cited for simple assault.

Three other protesters face trespassing charges.
