Green Mountain Power storm response

Posted: Updated:
MONTPELIER, Vt. - A strong summer storm ripped through the region leaving thousands in the dark overnight.

High winds, heavy rainfall and lightning are to blame for the bulk of the damage, knocking down trees and power lines, causing outages.

At the peak of Tuesday's storm, more than 20,000 people were without power. Wednesday morning, crews were working to get the lights on to the remaining 6.000 customers. GMP says it could take until take until midnight.

Kristin Carlson from Green Mountain Power joined us from Montpelier on the morning show with an update.
