OSSIPEE, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire Marine Patrol officers have identified the man who drowned in Duncan Lake in Ossipee July 4.
Authorities say 65-year-old Robert Madden of Huntington Station, New York drowned while swimming across a cove on the lake at about 5 p.m. Friday.
Family and friends swam out to try to help Madden when they saw he was struggling, but the man went under.
He was found about 10 minutes later and brought to shore where rescue workers tried in vain to revive him.
