Regulators: Vt. hospitals seek low growth in budgets

Posted: Updated:

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - State regulators say initial submissions by Vermont's 14 hospitals show they are seeking an average budget increase of 2.6 percent for the next fiscal year.

The Green Mountain Care Board says that the submissions maintain a historically low growth in budgets for the second consecutive year.

The preliminary data was submitted last week.

The board said Thursday that this is the second year in a row that it has instructed the hospitals to keep increases in net patient revenue to 3 percent or lower.

Public hearings will be held on the budget requests Aug. 26-28. The board will make a decision on the spending plans by Sept. 15.

Fiscal year 2015 starts Oct. 1.
