LI company to build new Nassau crime lab

Posted: Updated:

SYOSSET, N.Y. (AP) - A Syosset, Long Island, company has been awarded a $20.7 million contract to build a new Nassau County crime lab.

The new facility will replace the old police lab that was shuttered after a national accrediting agency found instances of botched evidence testing there.

Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/1ylhWoZ ) says the contract was awarded to E & A Restoration, which submitted the lowest bid. It will build the lab on two floors of the existing county public safety center in New Cassel.

Work is slated to begin in the fall and expected to be completed in 2016.
