ST. ALBANS, Vt. -

Police say a pedestrian ran into a pickup truck in St. Albans while trying to cross the street.

It happened Tuesday afternoon in front of the Shell Station on South Main Street.

Investigators say the man lowered his head before running into traffic along the busy stretch. He was not run over, but he did hit the side of a passing truck.

"It was raining pretty hard. He put his hood over his head and attempted to run out into the traffic there. I don't think they saw him either, as they were traveling about 25 miles per hour, and he ran into the rear driver's side portion of the truck," St. Albans Police Ofc. Timothy Adams explained.

Police say the pedestrian was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The truck driver was not injured.
