Meet the Monsters-Week 5

Posted: Updated:
FAIRFAX, Vt. -

The River Cats are an energetic bunch of 7, 8 and 9 year olds. The day we caught up with the girls, they were working hard on fielding.  They have definitely shown that practice makes perfect. The team had three questions for the Lake Monsters:

Maggie, a nine year old shortstop asks, "Why is the team called the Lake Monsters?"

Nate Cloutier, Lake Monsters General Manager says, "Our team is called the Lake Monsters after our world famous mascot, Champ. Twenty one years ago when he became our mascot, he became so popular that we ended up changing our name to the Lake Monsters."

Summer, a seven year old shortstop asks, "How long did it take you to hit your first home run?"

Joe Bennie, Lake Monsters infielder says, "It took me a little longer to hit my first home run then all the other kids. It was my last year of Little League. I was twelve years old. It was actually my last little league game, my last little league at bat, that I hit my first home run."

Mollie, an 8 year old shortstop asks, "What's the best part about being a Lake Monster?"

Brett Vertigan, Lake Monsters outfielder says, "The best part about being a Lake Monster is probably playing catch with Champ, because I love Champ."

Thanks again to the Fairfax River Cats.
