KINGSTON, N.H. (AP) - The home of New Hampshire Declaration of Independence signer Josiah Bartlett is up for sale.
The 18-acre property in Kingston, New Hampshire, offers a four-bedroom white farmhouse built in 1774 that's been updated through the years, plus open pasture and woods. The front yard has a linden tree Bartlett brought back from Philadelphia as a sapling after signing the Declaration of Independence.
The asking price: $849,900.
It's the first time the home, added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1972, is for sale. The owners are the seventh generation of the Bartlett family to live there.
Bartlett was a doctor and governor of New Hampshire. His medical instruments are displayed in the parlor.
In "The West Wing" TV series, Martin Sheen played President Josiah Bartlet from New Hampshire.
