Plattsburgh powers up new car charging station

Posted: Updated:
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

Plattsburgh is powering up with its newest electric car charge station.

Right next to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers training center, drivers of battery-powered cars can make a pit stop and charge up for free.

It's Plattsburgh's first free charging station.

Starting from Gov. Andrew Cuomo's initiative, centers across New York State are installing these charging stations paid for by the state.

"Gave our apprentices some experience with the install of it. In case this does catch on and get big. We like to stay on the cutting edge of the new technology. So that's probably the biggest benefit for us," said Dave Hoover of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
