Montpelier hosts Do Good Fest

Posted: Updated:

Local nonprofits are preparing for a big weekend celebration in Montpelier.

The Do Good Festival is bringing musicians, food trucks and family-friendly fun together under one tent.

The event will go from 1-9 p.m. Saturday and is free to the public. Organizers hope to raise $20,000 to benefit cancer patients.

"The majority of the proceeds will go to the Cancer Patient Fund at Central Vermont Medical Center's National Life Cancer Treatment Center. And then we'll have nonprofits that are set up under a big tent here next to our building where they can tell their story and explain to folks what they do," said Ross Sneyd of the National Life Group.

This is the first year of the music festival. Residents are asked to leave the coolers at home.
