NY man on trial for killing jogger with car

Posted: Updated:
An elderly New York man is on trial for killing a jogger with his car.

Ronald Trombly, 86, is facing multiple felonies including second-degree manslaughter and second-degree vehicular manslaughter in the 2013 death of Ashley Poissant.

The 27-year-old was jogging on Perry Mills Road in Champlain when she was hit.

The prosecutor would not go on camera, but says Trombly was drinking. The defense says no he wasn't.

"Alcohol played no role in this unfortunate tragedy," said Stanley Cohen, defense attorney.

The trial continues Wednesday and is expected to last at least another week.
