Cuomo: Moreland Commission a phenomenal success

Posted: Updated:

The corruption probe surrounding New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, D-New York, is posing the greatest political test to his tenure.

Allegations that his administration meddled with a state anti-corruption commission are also prompting accusations from his Republican opponent.

Cuomo says the Moreland Commission's ultimate rejection of his request to stop subpoenas of some of his supporter’s shows there was no interference. He answered questions about the group this week.

"The Moreland Commission was a phenomenal success. It generated all sorts of interest in the behavior of the legislature. It brought all sorts of cases that have actually come to fruition and I believe the stimulus to get the ethics reform bill passed that we got passed," said Cuomo.

The Moreland Commission was created in July 2013 to uncover corruption in state government. It was shut down last March.
