Huge flea market proves every penny counts

Posted: Updated:
It's an antique lovers' paradise in Orford New Hampshire this weekend.

Nearly 150 vendors have set up shop on the town green on Route 10 for the 38th annual Flea Market. Vendors pay for a spot and the money raised benefits the town's volunteer fire department. They hope to raise around 5 thousands dollars that organizers say will be put to good use.

"Basically it has been volunteers that help keep the fire department going. This gives them good training to work together to pull this thing off. It does contribute. Basically the corporation can buy things that the town dept. needs so there is two separate entities. It is the private corporation that has the fundraiser and we buy equipment and help support what the department needs and help keeps town costs down," said David Smith, of the Orford Vol. Fire Dept.

The flea market continues all day tomorrow. Thousands are expected to turn out for the two-day event.
