UNITY, N.H. (AP) - Teachers and parents are moving furniture and equipment into the new elementary school in Unity, New Hampshire.

After many delays, it appears that school will be open for the first day on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Principal Chip Baldwin tells the Eagle Times with most major construction projects on the school finished, and the fire and security systems up and running, all that's left is mostly cosmetic.

The playground still needs work and a greenhouse will be built.

Lebanon-based Trumbull-Nelson Construction Co. took over construction of the new school in January after the original architect was removed.

In 2010, the school became the first one in state history to be ordered closed for fire code violations. Voters approved bonds for the new school.
