BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Burlington man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for attempted second-degree murder in the stabbing of a man outside a restaurant in 2012.
Prosecutors said 25-year-old Glen Haskins Jr. reacted in a violent and impulsive manner when he thought Barnah Komeyan had inappropriately touched Haskins' female friend. Komeyan suffered a stab wound to his abdomen.
The Burlington Free Press reports prosecutor Mary Morrissey said the state wanted to impose a sentence that held Haskins accountable for the crime, but would still allow him time to be rehabilitated and eventually live a productive life.
