NH town puts historic plaques on buildings

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTOWN, N.H. (AP) - The New Hampshire town of Charlestown has placed some plaques on historic buildings in its Main Street.

The plaques have been added to the Bakery Building, which houses the town offices, the Silsby Free Public Library and the Charlestown Town Hall.

The efforts help preserve Charlestown's historic Main Street for the future.

The Eagle Times reports in the fall, another plaque will be posted in South Charlestown, once home to several stagecoach routes from Massachusetts, Vermont and other parts of New Hampshire.

The town has two historic districts.
