ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) - The lawyer for a Vermont man charged along with his wife in the killing of a popular St. Johnsbury teacher is seeking to have more evidence dismissed before his upcoming trial.

Allen and Patricia Prue face kidnapping and first-degree murder charges in the March 2012 death of Melissa Jenkins. Police allege the Prues lured Jenkins from her home and then killed her. They have pleaded not guilty.

The Caledonian Record reports Allen Prue's lawyer filed a motion Thursday to suppress evidence about a call between Jenkins and a friend the day she disappeared and a recording of Prue whispering to his wife at the state police barracks.

The court is currently considering Prue's request to suppress his alleged confession to investigators about his role in the killing of Jenkins.
