Former Vt. gubernatorial candidate dies

UNDERHILL, Vt. -

A former Vermont gubernatorial candidate has died.

Tom Morse of Underhill ran for governor twice. In 1994, he narrowly lost to David Kelley in the Republican primary and then finished a distant third as an independent candidate in the general election.

In 1996, he again lost in the Republican Party primary to John Gropper.

Outside of politics, Morse was the longtime owner of Green Mountain Foam Products, an upholstery company in Underhill.

Tom Morse died at his home Sunday. He was 77 years old.
