Nine young baseball players from region were selected out of 200 applicants to become the Little Lake Monsters Community All-Star Team.
The Little Lake Monsters Community All-Stars program was created by the Oakland Athletics single A affiliate to get kids and families to think about important topics and issues in life, such as healthy lifestyles, sportsmanship and community, and in turn they be rewarded with an opportunity of a lifetime.
The nine players were introduced at a press conference in downtown Burlington just like the Red Sox or Yankees would introduce one of their newest superstars:
Ethan Fritz, Bristol, VT
Mira Filion, Shelburne, VT
Dustin Beloin, Jay, VT
Connor Nielsen, Swanton, VT
Grace Arcovitch, Essex Junction, VT
Maddie Montagne, St. Albans, VT
Ethan Schwaner, Poultney, VT
Storm Rushford, Williston, VT
Brady Doorey, Morrisonville, NY
After the press conference, the Little Lake Monsters took to Centennial, where they were able to meet some of the real Lake Monster players and had the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. As part of the one day contract, the players were also paid $50, which each player donated to the United Way.
