Holiday drivers find lower prices at the pump

Posted: Updated:
Drivers this holiday weekend found lower gas prices at the pump.

According to Gasbuddy.com -- the lowest gas price was in West Rutland, with regular for $3.32 a gallon. The highest was in Fairlee -- $3.81. At Bob's Quick Stop in Irasburg, a gallon of regular was $3.59 Monday. Customers WCAX-TV spoke with were happy because the price dropped a dime per gallon in just the last week. It's a trend drivers are seeing nationwide.

"About time, they've been ripping us long enough," said Casey Casavant of Irasburg.

"It's very important -- gas prices effect how well we eat you know, how much the kids are going to get for school supplies and everything, so it means the world," said Rick Spaulding of Morrisville,

Spaulding says he drives about 100 miles a day. Nationwide, the average price per gallon is $3.44. That's the cheapest Labor Day weekend gas in four years. Analysts say refineries are producing plenty of gasoline and have not been stopped by hurricanes or other disruptions this summer.
