Owens shares thoughts on soon-to-be replacement Stefanik

NEW YORK -

New York Congressman Bill Owens is sharing his thoughts on his soon-to-be replacement Elise Stefanik.

In January, Republican Elise Stefanik will take over for Democrat Bill Owens as the representative in New York's 21st Congressional District. Owens announced earlier this year he would not seek re-election. Stefanik defeated Democrat Aaron Woolf in the race for the open seat.

Owens says it may be tough for Stefanik to get a grasp on what's going on in the district, as she only moved to the area last year.

"Disappointed that Aaron didn't win. I'm now hopeful that Miss Stefanik and I can create a smooth transition and make sure that our constituents continue to be served well," said Owens, D-New York.

Owens says he hopes Stefanik will represent the entire district and support both Republicans and Democrats.
