Sanders wraps up initial campaign tour

Posted: Updated:
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Sen. Bernie Sanders wrapped up his first campaign tour since officially getting into the race for president.

The campaign says more than two-thousand people packed a gym in Minneapolis Sunday to hear Sanders speak about his Agenda for America. The trip to Minnesota followed visits to Iowa and New Hampshire, and Sanders' big kickoff event in Burlington last Tuesday. Sanders hopes the overflow events of the last few days are the start of a political revolution.

"We run a kind of grass roots people oriented campaign. We are not going to have the billion or two billion dollars to flood the airwaves with 30 second TV ads, and the best way for us to get the word out is to do just grass roots meetings," Sanders said.

Also this weekend, Senator Sanders made news by calling for debates to begin this summer. He said he wants to engage both his Democratic primary opponents and Republican candidates so that voters can see the difference on where candidates stand on key issues.
