Brandon police officer rescues injured owl

Posted: Updated:

An injured owl is on the road to recovery thanks to the Brandon Police Department.

Police say they found the injured owl on McConnell Road early Tuesday morning. When Cpl. Adam Murach tried to get the owl off the roadway, he found it was clearly injured.

No one from Vermont Fish and Wildlife was available to help, so police called the Vermont Institute of Natural Science or VINS. A rehabilitator was able to take the owl to the group's Quechee location.

Police say the owl was checked out and it had no broken bones or internal bleeding. The bird was provided with fluids and pain medication.
