This team of 11, 12 and 13 year olds come from the towns Derby, Newport and Coventry. Most of them met for the first time at their first practice. These girls definitely showed lots of improvement over the year and blended together nicely to make for a terrific year. Here's their questions for the Lake Monsters.
Ryan, a 13 year old pitcher asks, "Do you like home or away games better and why?"
Lake Monsters pitcher, Jordan Schwartz says, "For me, it personally doesn't matter. I try to find my zone on each and every mound that I pitch on. I try to feel comfortable on that mound, but home games definitely do help a little bit, because you have more consistency being on that mound more often and you have a better feel for it."
C.C., a 12 year old shortstop and pitcher asks, "What's your favorite hitting drill and why?"
Lake Monsters infielder, Tim Proudfoot says, "My favorite hitting drill is soft toss. It allows me to not only just hit the ball every time, but to get my timing right before the game starts."
Jenna, a 12 year old catcher asks, "Do you play the same position now then when you first started playing?"
Former Lake Monsters catcher, Carson Blair says, "The answer is no. I was originally a third baseman and shortstop in high school. Then, I was drafted by the Red Sox way back in 2008 and they decided to convert me to a catcher and so ever since, I've decided to be a catcher."
