Stowe Sweeps D-3 Soccer Titles

Posted: Updated:
BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. -

For the second straight year, Stowe completed a sweep of the boys' and girls' Division 3 soccer state championship games played at Bellows Falls. The boys, seeded fourth, knocked off #3 Williamstown, 1-0. The Raiders scored in the 13th minute when Trent Gutstein headed home a Dillon LaViale free kick, and goalkeeper Mark Infante did the rest by keeping a clean sheet. It was the 5th straight title for the Raider boys.

On the girls' side, the second seeded Raiders took down top seed Thetford, 2-0.  Both Stowe goals came off the foot of Darien Boerger. The goals were just five minutes apart midway through the second half. Like Infante did in the boys game, keeper Zoe Ruffle kept the Panthers off the board.
