It's the dawn of a new era for the UVM Women's Basketball team. The program begins year one of Chris Day's tenure at home Friday night against Bryant.
Vermont looked impressive in its only exhibition game over the weekend beating St. Michael's 71-55. The Cats only trailed for 12 seconds in that game. Vermont returns nine letter winners from last year's team, including four starters. Team captains Sydney Smith, Katie Lavelle and Kristina White have made it their mission to change the culture of the program. Friday's performance will go a long way in that process.
"The one thing we've been stressing is organization, being clean on the court, giving 1000 percent effort, said day. "Those are the things we are trying to transform. Our kids are ready to go. The excitement is there and I think we'll give the fans a good showing."
Tip off between the Cats and Bulldogs is slated for 7 p.m. Friday night.
