Cross Country State Championships

Thetford once again hosted the cross country state championships on Saturday. Rena Schwartz from Green Mountain Valley School won the D-1 girls' race and the individual state title. In the team competition, the CVU Girls claimed their 8th straight title by placing four runners in the top ten.

The CVU boys also won a D-1 Team title.  It's the second straight for the Redhawks who were once again led by Senior Tyler Marshall. He won his second straight individual title.

In Division 2, the Harwood girls won the team title. The Highlanders' Erin Magill won the race and the individual title, the only one to finish under 21 minutes. Harwood had the top three finishers.

The D-2 boys team title went to U-32.  After finishing as a runner up the last 2 seasons, The Raiders edged Harwood for their first cross country title in a decade.  Matt Hynes from Montpelier won his second straight individual state title.

In Division 3, Putney's Delany Bullock won the girls individual title. She was the only girl to cross in under 20 minutes.  Oxbow placed three in the top ten to take the girls team title.  Danville's Riley Fenoff dominated the D-3 boys race to win the individual title. Rice edged out Bellows Falls for the team title, placing two in the top ten.
