The Pie Tour: Cake and Crumb Bakery

Posted: Updated:

It's a big day for Vicki Campomanes and her son Aaron

"Today is his first full cupcake," says Vicki.

He's making quite the mess, so his brother Christopher had to show him how its done. He knows how to eat a cupcake.  This family comes here once a week to do so.

"Oh yeah! Sue knows us," says Vicki.

Sue Camley owns The Cake and Crumb Bakery in Morrisville with her daughter Julie.

"I wish I had that opportunity with my mom, I mean there are where things can get a little intense, but at the end of the day we always make sure we hug before we walk away," says Sue.

The family specializes in creating a family atmosphere, and part of that is making everything fresh.

"We make our own dough.  We peel the apples.  We put the care into the pie as if we were making it for our own family," says Sue.

That's why they go above and beyond when it comes to the holidays.  Last year for pie season, Susan said she made 60 to 70 pies for thanksgiving including 36 the day before.  But, it's decorating cakes where her real passion lies, even if some people are sitting in them rather than decorating them.

But, we came here for the pie, and little did Christopher know, but he was about to try his first ever slice of pumpkin pie.

"What do you think? Thumbs up?" asks reporter Alex Hirsch.

"Thumbs up!" says Christopher.

A traditional family recipe, bringing everyone together.
