Learning to be a Lumber Jill

Posted: Updated:

At a farm in Worcester, adventurous women can learn how to be a "Lumber Jill."

So what does that involve? Everything from splitting firewood to learning how to take down small trees with an ax.

Woodswoman Murphy Robinson of Mountainsong Expeditions told our Eva McKend that learning these skills is empowering for women.

"I think it's really empowering when everyone in a household knows these skills. If you are a woman who is the only one in your household or if you have a partner and they know the skills but you don't, it's really great for you to be able to do that yourself and it is also really fun," Robinson said.

The next course will be offered at the Good Heart Farmstead next month. Click here for more information.
