CAMBRIDGE, Vt. -

Authorities say a Colchester man was caught Sunday trying to shoot a deer from his truck window.

After hearing reports of shooting from the road in Cambridge, state game wardens say they set up one their deer facsimiles near the road.  They say 22-year-old Justin Andrews took the bait around 2:15 p.m., firing his rifle from the driver's seat.   After being confronted, Andrews took off and led wardens on a several mile chase on back roads.

He was eventually taken into custody in Cambridge.  He faces charges of having a loaded long gun in a motor vehicle, shooting from a motor vehicle and failure to stop for a game warden.  Officials say if convicted, he could be fined up to $1,000 for each offense, lose hunting privileges for three years, and forfeit his rifle.
