Dress for Success Burlington gets big donations

Posted: Updated:

Women needing an extra hand getting a job got some help Monday. Danform Shoes teamed up with Naot footwear to donate nearly $15,000 in shoes to Dress for Success Burlington.

The non profit helps women who are referred to the program prepare for successful reentry into the workforce. The goal is for these women to become financially independent and break the cycle of poverty.

Danform also held a handbag exchange for customers during November and collected more than 65 bags and wallets to donate to the charity. "We are really excited about the partnership with Danform. What it means for our clients is that they will be able to walk into an interview with real confidence. The $15,000 worth of shoes we are receiving and the purses -- about 75 handbags and wallets -- we are receiving is just an incredible gift to the clients we work with," said Harriet Williams with Dress for Success Burlington

"So we are going to help out 75 gals who are trying to get back into the job force, which is a great thing for everybody, and the shoes and the handbags should help with it," said David Bailey with Danform Shoes.

Part of what Dress for Success does is provide gently used business attire for women in the program, so they will be able to be confident in their new jobs.
