New changes to Vt. senior hunting and fishing licenses

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The state is making some changes to its lifetime hunting and fishing license program.

Right now any Vermonters 65 and older can pay a one-time fee of $50 and be licensed to hunt and fish for the rest of their lives.

But starting January 1 the age limit rises to 70 and the lifetime license is then free.

So, the Fish and Wildlife Department suggests if you are almost 70, wait to get a free license. But if you are between 65 and 70 and you want a lifetime license get it before the new rules go into place at the end of the year.
