Saint Michael's College women's swimming & diving senior Lindsay McNall (Colchester, Vt./Colchester) registered her 99th and 100th career victories on Sunday, as the Purple Knight men and women were swept by Saint Lawrence University during their regular-season finales in Augsbury Pool.
The Purple and Gold women finish the dual-meet portion of their season at 5-3 after a 115-93 setback against the 5-2 Saints. The men ended up 2-5 following a 123-102 loss to 1-6 Saint Lawrence, earning a 102-97 scoring edge during swimming events. However, by virtue of entering a pair of divers in Sunday's competition to the Purple Knights' zero, the Saints corralled 26 additional points to decide the meet.
McNall is believed to be the first swimming & diving student-athlete in College history with 100 career triumphs, having picked up 66 individual wins while claiming 34 relay victories with 17 different partners. She helped her 200-yard medley relay quartet take the opening race of the meet in 1:58.19 by just 0.08 seconds, as her opening-leg 50-yard backstroke of 28.67 put the Purple Knights up by 2.24 seconds. Senior Katrina Wiesner (Bow, N.H./Bow), junior Ally Fischang (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) and first-year Lauren Giampietro (Watertown, Conn./Watertown) completed the foursome.
McNall picked up her milestone victory in the 200-yard individual medley, topping all competitors by 4.83 seconds in a time of 2:19.56.
