KILLINGTON, Vt. -

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department says they've helped rescue several cubs in recent weeks. They say these were born last spring and there were more than usual. So they're showing up starving in residential areas because of the shortage of food. One Wardsboro resident found one under her porch.

Fish & Wildlife says the cubs are being taken to a bear rehab spot in New Hampshire to recover, but will be released back into Vermont.

With the recent warm weather, many bears are being spotted out of hibernation.

A Channel 3 viewer found one in Killington that seemed to be enjoying the warm weather.
