The Middlebury women's lacrosse team held off a late charge by Amherst (6-9) for an 8-7 win in a NESCAC Quarterfinal game played on Kohn Field. The Panthers (13-3) will host next weekend's semifinals, taking on Colby Saturday at 12:00 p.m. Trinity and Hamilton will meet in the other semifinal at 2:30 p.m. The winners will battle on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the NESCAC Championship game.
Middlebury men's goalie, Charles Midgley made a career-high 24 saves, propelling the Panthers to an 11-10 upset of 11th-ranked Amherst in the NESCAC Quarterfinals Saturday in Massachusetts. Middlebury (7-8), the tournament's sixth seed, advances to next weekend's semifinals at top-seeded Bates, while Amherst (12-4) saw its five-game winning streak snapped. Middlebury will face the Bobcats at 12:00 p.m., while the other semifinal has second-seeded Wesleyan taking on fifth-seeded Tufts at 3:00 p.m.
