NH shooting ranges shut down following police investigation

EPPING, N.H. -

There's an update to a story we told you about earlier this year about a mom whose car was hit by a stray bullet from a shooting range.

Kristen Burke of Hampton was driving on Route 101 back in April when something struck and shattered her windshield.

When workers replaced it, they found a .45-caliber bullet lodged in the dashboard.

No one was hurt, but it was a close call.

Now, New Hampshire State Police say shooting ranges at Sig Sauer Academy have been shut down for now following their investigation into the incident.

They said the rounds being fired from the ranges were falling out onto Route 101, but that the woman's car was not shot at.

The ranges will be allowed to reopen when safety improvements are installed.
