BURLINGTON, Vt. - Junior Angel McCoughtry, the nation's leading scorer at 25.4 points per game, scored a game-high 19 points and added five rebounds and four steals to lead Louisville to a 87-52 victory over Vermont at Patrick Gymnasium on Wednesday night. McCoughtry was one of five Cardinals in double figures on the night.
"It got to the point where it was just really about fight," said UVM coach Sharon Dawley. "Lets just fight until the very end and I was impressed with the way our girls were able to do that, right until the buzzer we had kids diving on the floor for loose balls."
"Tonight does not show how good Vermont really is," added captian Sara Fenton. "I think this is a learning experience and we have a lot of time and talent to really pick up our game."
