UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Tomas Plekanec scored twice and Cristobal Huet needed to make just 17 saves in Montreal's 3-1 win over the New York Islanders Tuesday night.
Plekanec opened the scoring in the first period before giving the Canadiens a 2-0 lead with a short-handed tally early in the second.
The Isles cut the Canadiens' lead in half when Richard Park scored midway through the final period. But Alex Kovalev clinched the Canadiens' sixth victory in nine games by scoring into an empty net.
Rick DiPietro stopped 19 shots for the Islanders, who had won two in a row.
