Vermont High School Nordic Championships - Day One


MIDDLEBURY, VT - Day one of the Vermont High School Nordic Championships. The Rikert Touring Center in Middlebury the host site for the boys and girls classical races.

In the boys D-1 race, Brattleboro Sophomore Kalle Jahn puts a hurting on the rest of the field. He navigates the trails in 17 minutes 8 seconds, 35 seconds better than CVU's John Dixon who takes 2nd place.

In D-2, Alex Shulz of Lamoille backs up a 2007 state title with a title in 2008. He crosses in 17 minutes, 12 seconds for back to back championships. Peoples Academy's Ethan Dreissigacker just 2 seconds back in 2nd place.

As for the girls, in Division one, it's Keely Levins out of Rutland High School finishing in a time of 20 minutes and 6 seconds. That's 30 seconds better than runner up CVU's Caroline Carpenter.

In D-2, Stowe's Kaitlynn Miller comes across with the best time of the day, 20 minutes, 1 second. Her teammate Ruth McGovern finishes 2nd, over a minute and a half back. The team state champs will be crowned Thursday after the Freestyle races.
