BOSTON, MA --- A great run by the UVM men's hockey team through the Hockey East tournament was cut short by a brick wall named John Muse Saturday night.
The freshman goaltender for Boston College made 29 saves to lead the Eagles to a 4-0 win over Vermont in the Hockey East championship game at the T-D Banknorth Garden in Boston.
Ben Smith scored with just under a minute and a half left in the first for a 1-0 Eagles lead. Tim Kunes and Brian Gibbons added goals in the second, and Nathan Gerbe capped the scoring with an empty net goal late in the third.
Senior Joe Fallon made 24 saves for Vermont, who, in just its third season in the league, was making its first appearance in the Hockey East final.
The Catamounts finish the season 17-15-7.
