KILLINGTON, VT -- The Vermont Principals' Association has denied a request by Montpelier High School to include cross-country running as a team sport in the member-to-member program.
The vote was 26-10 against at the VPA's annual meeting in Killington Thursday.
The request stems from a bid by two Montpelier students, Chris Keller and Liam McSweeney, to run as part of the U-32 cross country team.
Director of Student Activities Bob Johnson told Channel Three Sports the VPA did approve a motion to have the Activity Standards Committee gather information on how other states deal with this issue and to report on those findings next May.
