Ice Storm Approaching

Friday, June 20th

BURLINGTON, VT -- An Ice Storm in June? Believe it.

The Vermont Ice Storm open their season Saturday afternoon against the Bennington-based Southern Vermont Storm. The game will be held at South Burlington High School, kickoff at 4pm.

"It's going to be a real tune up game.", said Ice Storm quarterback Brad Ruderman. "It's our first real test we've had some intra-squad scrimmages but we're looking forward to playing these Southern Vermont boys, show them what Northern Vermont football's about."

Last season was a memorable one for the Ice Storm. The team went 15-0, winning the Emipre League title and were named the American Football Association national champs. But this past January, the Storm lost to the Detroit Black Ravens in the USA Bowl in Hollywood, Florida, and that loss has fueled the team to come back even stronger this season.

"I know there are several guys that were leaning towards the edge of retirement and maybe not coming back this year.", said Vermont safety Corey Belida. "I think that was one of the main motivators for guys coming back here and how the core of the team is sticking around this year."

"Well, we're really proud.", added wide receiver Zack Howe. "We got a lot of hopes and ambitions for this year. We really think we're gonna go far."
