Kidnapping Suspect Questioned in Old Double Murder Case

Clark Rockefeller Clark Rockefeller

Boston, Massachusetts - August 6, 2008

Police say a former New Hampshire who kidnapped his daughter, may be a suspect in a 20-year-old double murder case in California.

Clark Rockefeller was arrested for allegedly kidnapping his 7-year-old daughter during a supervised custody visit in Boston.

The two used to live in Cornish, New Hampshire.

Now homicide detectives from the Los Angeles area say they have fingerprints linking Rockefeller to the scene of a body that was found buried in the backyard of a home in 1994. The body has never been positively identified, but authorities believe it belongs to man who disappeared along with his wife in 1985. Rockefeller rented a home from the man.

"We have to be somewhat circumspect, because as we speak, we are going to over the next couple of days be interviewing this individual and hopefully comeback with some useful information," said Steve Whitmore of the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.

Rockefeller is being held without bail in Massachusetts on the kidnapping charges.
