Federal immigration officials think they may be close to identifying the former New Hampshire man who made national headlines for allegedly abducting his daughter, and then was linked to a 20-year-old murder case in California.
Clark Rockefeller used to reside in Cornish, New Hampshire. He also claims to be a member of the Rockefeller clan, even though the family says they don't know him.
Now investigators think his real name may be Christian Gerhart Reiter, and he moved to the U.S. in 1988 as a German exchange student.
Police have had a tough time identifying Rockefeller, because he does not have a Social Security number, a driver's license or history of working.
