A hearing for kidnapping suspect Michael Jacques was canceled Wednesday morning after he waived his probable cause hearing.
Jacques faces federal kidnapping charges with death resulting in the disappearance of his niece Brooke Bennett, 12. She was later found buried in a shallow grave July 2.
The hearing scheduled for Wednesday would have revealed part of the government's case against Jacques, but he waived his right to have the evidence heard.
Prosecutors have indicated they may seek the death penalty if Jacques is convicted.
